St. George's church of Ubisa Monastic Complex was built on the verge of  IX-X centuries. The two-aisled basilica belongs to the XII century. The Ubisa Monastery was an important cultural center. Books have been copied here for centuries, there were schools of embossing and icon painting. The Ubisa monastery has preserved unique samples of Georgian painting school. The Ubisa monastery was painted in the 14th century during the reign of King George V the Brilliant. Historians believe that the wall painting must have been done by the great artist Damian, or his apprentice Gerasime. The temple presents a magnificent composition of all the Great feasts: the Annunciation, the Palm Sunday, the Crucifixion, the Resurrection, the Epiphany and others. The fresco of St. George of Ubisa and the Last Supper are distinguished among other frescoes.

Lunch.

Drive in the direction of Chiatura. Katskhi pillar is a 40 meter high natural limestone monolith. It became known to the public, when the first ascent of the expedition was carried out on the pillar in 1994. The researchers have found the remains of churches and other buildings dating back from V-VI centuries on top of the pillar. It is believed that they were built by hermit monks from the Middle east. The construction of monastic chapels in such places were linked to extreme ascetism which was spread  in prehistoric Asia in the VI century and, above all, in Syria, which Christian Georgia had close relations with. Currently, a monastery church and cells for hermits are built on the Katskhi pillar and a hermit monk serves there.

Katskhi temple was built at the beginning of the XI century. The temple burned down twice during its existence and it was rebuilt again in the 16th century. Katskhi temple is one of the most distinctive and original monuments of Georgian architecture. An architectural monument of similar forms is not found anywhere else in the country.

Mghvimevi Nunnery, founded in the 13th century, is one of the most unique monuments in Georgia. The nunnery complex consists of many buildings. The main temple is named after the Savior. It is a two-aisled basilica, which are separated from each other by arches supported by massive columns. The facade of the building is decorated with very beautiful carvings. There is the Mghvimevi cave behind the central temple, where services are held on major holidays. Another attraction of the nummery is the small hall church. Its ceiling and west wall are natural rock. A head of a ram is engraved on the east wall of this church, and there are frescos on the outer part of the south wall. There are other architectural buildings of the nunnery: the bell tower and cells for nuns.
